Banbury United slipped to a 4-1 defeat when forced to play with ten men following a case of mistake identity in their Southern League Premier Division match at Truro.
Banbury were leading through Leam Howards’s goal following a Jacob Walcott’s cross, when the mistake occurred.
The visitors’ Tom Fishwick was booked for kicking the ball away.
To everyone’s amazement the referee then brandished the red card, thinking he had been booked earlier when in fact it had been fellow central defender Jack Westbrook.
Truro equalised just four minutes into the half when Craig Duff scored.
Duff added a penalty following a foul from Callum White.
It was now all Truro and goals by Rob Far-kins and Isaac Vassell completed their tally.
Banbury Utd: Bedwell, White, Lynn, Martin (Tappin 70), Fishwick, Westbrook, Walcott (White 80), Hawtin, Shama, Howards (Cray HT), Murombedzi. Subs not used: Mzungwana, Browne.
Attendance: 424.
