HENRY Lamb kicked Witney to a 12-5 victory at Reading.
The fly half landed four penalties as Witney recovered from 5-0 down to record their third win of the season.
Reading missed two early penalties before lock Charlie Davies crashed over for the opening try.
Lamb’s first penalty reduced the arrears on 17 minutes after good work from flanker Stuart Catherall.
Witney had full back James Monks sin-binned for a late tackle, while a third Reading penalty hit a post.
Centre Carl Strutt was held up for Witney, but Lamb’s penalty gave them a 6-5 half-time lead.
More Witney pressure forced a kicakble penalty after the break, with Lamb doing the rest.
Reading were denied a likely interception try due to being offside at a ruck.
Lock Richard Haire and Monks went close before Reading’s Shaun Collins was yellow-carded for a late tackle on Witney’s Arron Lambourne.
Monks was stopped five metres short on 66 minutes, but Reading were penalised, with prop Ricky Willcock sin-binned and Lamb slotting the three points.
Reading pressed at the end, but Witney held on.
Grove’s wait for a win continued as they lost 36-27 at home to Windsor.
Guy Nicholl led the way with two tries and a conversion for the hosts.
Tom Clipsham also crossed over, with Harry Carr slotting a conversion and two penalties.
Henry Day kicked the remaining conversion.
