Banbury's Amy Freeman has won the CMJ Spirit of Cricket Girls’ Award.

The 15-year-old got the judges’ vote for her courage and sportsmanship.

Already playing with a dislocated knee so that Banbury could field a side, she dislocated the other one, but still fielded at slip, and bowled from a one-step run up, apologising as she did so.

MCC president and former England captain Mike Gatting said: “We had some excellent entries, but Amy stood out as someone who has truly exhibited the spirit of cricket this season.”
