Headington B went undefeated to chalk up a record-breaking success in the Summertown Trophy at Banbury Chestnuts.
The Headington quintet of Mark Charlett, Jason King, Nathan Lewis, Ian Henwood and John Philpott, who was on the winning side for the second year running, posted a competition best score of +41 shots.
That put them 30 ahead of their nearest rivals, Banbury Borough, in the tournament, which carried £700 in prize-money.
The top ten qualifying teams played each other over seven ends in a round-robin format.
And, after the first four games, Carterton led the pack with +19 shots, closely followed by the two Headington sides, including last year’s winners.
But, after lunch, defending champions Headington A struggled to win a game, with 2012 winners Banbury Borough climbing above them.
After drawing with leaders Carterton, Headington B won their remaining games to put themselves in an unbeatable position.
The battle for second and third place saw an exciting climax with Borough, Carterton and Witney Town separated by just three shots going into the last game.
With Borough clinching a 5-5 draw against Carterton on the last end, and Witney Town losing their last game by four shots, Borough claimed second prize and the Astall Ley Trophy, with Carterton third.
