WANTAGE Town suffered late agony as they lost 2-1 at Flackwell Heath in last night’s first qualifying round replay.
The clash looked all set for penalties before Flackwell’s Dan Rapley netted a dramatic winner in the 120th minute.
After an uneventful first half, Rapley toe-poked Hellenic League side Flackwell ahead on the hour mark.
Wantage equalised on 73 minutes when Jimmy Deabill drilled home after good work from Danny Lachacz.
The southern League visitors could not convert their late pressure into a winner, but went close through Brad Smith’s great run in extra-time.
However, Flackwell won it with Rapley’s late breakaway effort, despite Wantage appeals for offside.
Defeat also meant Wantage missed out on automatic progression to the third qualifying round after scheduled opponents Salisbury City withdrew.
