Wantage Town let slip a two-goal lead and had to settle for a 3-3 draw in their entertaining FA Cup first qualifying round tie tie at Flackwell Heath on Saturday.
The home team were gifted a goal after 14 minutes when Stuart Cattell headed back to Lee Farrow, but the keeper misjudged and the ball went into the net for an own goal.
Cattell, who was troubled with a calf injury,was replaced by Luca Riccio.
Wantage levelled right on half-time. Jimmy Deabill was fouled on the edge of the box, and from the free-kick, Jake Johns hit shot into the roof of the net.
After Riccio was forced off due to an injury, Wantage took the lead, Johnny Haist scoring with a neat finish.
Then Wantage made it 3-1. Tom Melledew’s shot from the edge of the box struck a post, but Deabill was quickest react and found the net.
Three minutes later, the Hellenic League hosts pulled a goal back through Mitchell Woodward’s long-range strike It was no surprise when Flackwell sub Jamie Handscombe levelled the scores.
The replay will be held at Alfredian Park tomorrow.
