Arhcie Spittles hit a superb 91 to set Magdalen College School (Oxford) on the way to an 89-run victory over Lord Williams’s (Thame) in the Oxfordshire final of the ESCA Under 14 County Cup.
Spittles, with good support from Charlie Taylor (53) took Magdalen to 213-4 off 30 overs at Thame Town CC.
James Liebrecht then took 4-21 as Lord Williams’s were bowled out for 124.
Magdalen now represent Oxfordshire in the national stages of the competition next year.
Lord Williams’s had the consolation of winning the Oxfordshire Under 17 Cup with a 34-run win against Burford in the final.
The Thame school posted 163-3 in 20 overs, and Burford fell short on 129-9.
St Birinus (Didcot) snatched a one-run victory from the jaws of defeat against Marlborough (Woodstock) in a thrilling second tier Oxfordshire Under 15 Championship final.
Chasing St Birinus’s 119-6, which included 56 from Matt Addison, Marlborough looked poised for victory at 113-1 with two overs left.
But Addison then took two wickets for two runs in the 19th over, and with only three runs scored in the final over, St Birinus scraped home as Marlborough finished on 118-4.
