LIKE Oxford United, tomorrow’s hosts Exeter City are also still waiting for their first win of the Sky Bet League Two season.
The Grecians prop up the table by virtue of an inferior goal difference following a 2-1 home defeat to Mansfield Town last weekend.
But while manager Paul Tisdale is concerned, there is no sense of alarm at this stage of the season.
He said: “Our league position is relevant, but we have only played half a dozen games, “If it was Easter time it would be a bit different.
“We are only into the second week in September.
“However, I am well aware that we don’t want to be at the bottom of the table and we are playing against a team that are alongside us.
“So it is relevant, but you have got to keep some perspective on it.
Exeter’s preparations for the new season were hampered by a transfer embargo, triggered by a loan from the PFA to cover running costs.
It was paid off last month, allowing City to bring players in, but budgets remain tight.
Despite everything, Tisdale remains upbeat about the chances of climbing the table.
“We have got a stronger squad than we had a month ago and that is something that just a little bit of clarity and perspective,” he said.
“You would put money on the league not finishing as it is now.
“At the end of the season those 24 teams, as they are now, will not be in that exact same position.
“I am very concerned, I’m not brushing it off, but I am more concerned with how we played against Mansfield than I am where we are in the league.”
