Oxfordshire Under 25s finished third in the Four Counties ‘Top 11’ Competition at South Oxford, with Surrey completing a hat-trick of victories.
Oxon could count themselves unlucky to go down 3-2 to Surrey in their opener.
Jamie Wilkinson, a last minute switch to the two-wood singles, battled well before bowing to the experience of Charles Bruder.
And George Schwab, when leading 16-13, dropped a four, three and a single to lose 21-16 to Charlie Souter.
Captain Lee Wilkinson, Brandon King, Bradley Squir-es and Orren Bennett pulled one back in the fours by cruising to a 28-6 win over Matt Hayes.
Sam Muir then skipped his triple of Ben Dickson and Dan Swanson to a crucial win to make it 2-2.
However, Oxon’s pair of Sam Watts and Shane Cooper were pipped by James Freemantle and Matt White on an extra end.
The third-place play-off against Middlesex saw an unchanged Oxon triumph 4-1, with Wilkinson losing his two-wood singles by two shots to Kai Matthews.
