OXFORD United will be in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round draw next month after missing out on a bye.
Michael Appleton's men were not among the 16 sides who will enter at the second round stage.
They are in the south west section and will discover their opponents when the draw is made on Saturday, August 16.
The competition will also see vanishing spray, as seen in this summer's World Cup, used throughout.
First round matches will be played in the week commencing September 1.
United's potential first round opponents:
Cheltenham Town
Coventry City
Newport County
Portsmouth
Swindon Town
Wycombe Wanderers
Yeovil Town
