DIDCOT’S Dan Rivers has won a bronze medal in the 10m air rifle final at Glasgow 2014.
The Wantage Target Shooting Club member topped the rankings in this morning’s qualifying event with a Games record 623.6 points.
And Rivers backed that up by finshing third in this afternoon’s final with 182.4 after losing in a shoot-out for silver with Abdullah Baki (Bangladesh).
Rivers said afterwards: "The heart rate, as soon as you see you are tied on the screen, it just goes up even more," he said.
"You just have to pick your timing, go between the beats, and do your best. Nerves of steel? Or hit and hope?
"We try to train under pressure but on this scale nothing compares. It's like a penalty shoot-out in front of a packed stadium."
