CHRIS Allen paid tribute to ten-man Thame United’s display as Oxford United won 2-0 in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter-final.
Aidan Hawtin opened the scoring on 20 minutes after a fine run from Josh Shama.
Thame’s task got tougher midway through the first half, when Ollie Lynch was red-carded for a foul on U’s goalkeeper Jonathan Henly. Hawtin added a second after the break, tapping in after Callum O’Dowda’s corner struck a post.
Allen, United’s youth team manager, said: “Unfortunately for them, they had a man down and you think you’re going to run away with it, but you never do and full credit to Thame.”
