London Welsh 19, Leeds Carnegie 10
London Welsh returned to the top of the Greene King IPA Championship after a battling victory at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford, today.
Having been overtaken by Rotherham, who won at Jersey yesterday, Welsh needed a home win to be sure of leading the table again.
It was far from pretty, but wing Seb Stegmann’s try and 14 points from fly half Gordon Ross’s boot proved enough.
Leeds scrum half James Doherty, who had earlier been sin-binned, went over for their try, while fly half Glyn Hughes kicked a penalty and a conversion.
The Exiles lead the table by just a point as they maintain their promotion push.
