London Welsh 26, Pontypridd 23
TWO tries from powerful wing Joe Ajuwa helped London Welsh defeat Pontypridd in today’s British & Irish Cup clash at the Kassam Stadium.
Welsh’s narrow win sees them still have a chance of reaching the knockout stages if they beat London Scottish next week, but Pool 2 remains very tight.
Fly half Will Robinson kicked 16 points in a flawless display for Welsh, which was just as well because they were outscored three tries to two.
Flanker Thomas Young, No 8 Jordan Sieniawski and centre Garyn Smith went over for Ponty, with fly half Simon Humberstone converting one and adding a penalty and a drop goal.
The winners of each of the six pools go through to the quarter-finals, plus the two best runners-up.
