The Angling Trust Oxford Winter League second round was held on a stillwater for a change, with seven teams leaving their usual Thames venues for a wet and windy Oakfield Fishery.

As is often the case on commercials, the wind had a big influence on the fishing and it was the breezy side of Red Kite Lake that provided all the weights.

Gary Thorpe (Hospital) drew the same peg he had won from the previous day and took top spot with 88lb 8oz of carp and F1’s on pellet and maggot on the pole.

Dan Blackwell (Sensas A4) had 60.9.0 on method feeder from the peg next to the winner.

Chris Telling (Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths) was five ounces behind with a net of mainly carp on method feeder and then the pole and pellet.

Teams: 1 Abingdon 33pts, 2 Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths 28, 3 Reading 27.

Positions: 1 Abingdon 2pts, 2= Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths, Sensas A4 6.
