THE Johnsons came up trumps as Gladiators B pulled off a surprise 4-1 win at West Oxford Democrats in Johnsons Buildbase Oxford League Section 1, writes PETE EWINS.
John Patey put the hosts ahead, but the visitors hit back thanks mainly to the Johnson family, with Grant, Reg and Mark (4,000) all winning.
Dave Tooke (11,110) was the top scorer, but could not prevent Gladiators A winning 3-2 at home to Didcot.
Bert Lovegrove (9,980) put the hosts ahead, but Mellissa Standbridge (4,320) quickly levelled.
Keith Gardner (6,000) and Frank Cox (5,440) hit back to secure the victory, before Tooke’s late effort.
Chris Webb (19,190) was the star as Masons B won 3-2 at home to Marlborough Club.
Ernie Smith (6,730) and Sean Stratford (4,350) were their other winners.
In the Premier Section, Ian Moss saved a whitewash for Vikings, as they went down 4-1 at leaders Kennington Club.
