Banbury United 2

(Talabi 48, Lawless 77)

There was heartbreak for Banbury United as they were denied another go at Stourbridge by a last-minute goal against the run of play in a competitive FA Carlsberg Trophy first qualifying round tie on Saturday.

Stourbridge took the lead against their fellow Calor League Premier Division visitors in the tenth minute when Ryan Rowe struck home from ten yards.

Banbury came out for the second half with all guns blazing and equalised within three minutes when a cross from the left by Dom-inic Lawless was parried out by keeper Dean Coleman to Adeyinka Talabi, who netted from five yards.

Stourbridge regained the lead in the 59th minute with a superb shot from distance by Roland Agbor.

Ten minutes from time, Banbury got a second equaliser out of the blue when Dom Lawless struck a shot from outside the penalty area into the far corner of the net.

With four minutes left, Kynan Isaac’s shot was deflected by a defender onto a Stourbridge post.

However, United were to be denied a replay when in the final minute Stourbridge broke away and Kayelden Brown had the time to strike home the winner.
