OXFORD United face losing an impressive unbeaten away record if they take rock bottom Accrington Stanley lightly this afternoon, according to David Hunt.

The high-flying U’s have not lost to Stanley in their eight meetings and will start the game as hot favourites to continue the sequence.

Chris Wilder’s men have won four of their five away trips in Sky Bet League Two, with only a 2-2 draw at Cheltenham denying them a perfect record.

By contrast, basement boys Accrington are yet to win in the league and have lost their last five home games in all competitions.

It is the sort of game that everyone expects United to pick up the three points from, but Hunt knows the perils of underestimating an opponent.

“No chance, Accrington aren’t a bad team at all,” he said.

“It’s shown in this league, especially if you look at someone like Chesterfield who’ve lost a couple of games, that everyone beats everyone.

“If we go up there and do not give them any respect, then I think we could come back very unhappy.

“The boys know that and we’re making sure that doesn’t happen.

“We’ve worked hard in training and are going about it in exactly the same way as we always do.”

Boss Chris Wilder, who is expected to name an unchanged line-up, is hoping for more of the same from his side, who have impressed on their travels.

But he too says that it will be drummed into his players that they must be on the ball throughout the match.

He said: “One thing we haven’t lacked this year is the correct character and attitude to get the job done.

“There have been times where we’ve played some decent football and times where we’ve had to mix it and dig in.

“We’re going to have to do both at Accrington to get a result.

“You can’t afford for your standards to slip and you can’t afford to have days off.”
