JANET Cooksey, 73, from Upton, near Banbury, won two bronze medals at the veterans’ world championships in Varna, Bulgaria.
In her 19-strong over-70 women’s foil event, Cooksey (pictured) fell to the reigning world champion, Marie-Chantal Demaille, of France, 10-5 in the semi-finals.
A similar pattern emerged in the 18-strong epee comp-etition, where Cooksey was seeded fourth, won her first direct elimination match against teammate Carole Seheult 10-9 before going down to 10-4 to Demaille and collecting a second bronze.
