Cousins Rimas Sadauskas and Tomas Eirosius have become national kickboxing champions after winning the first tournament they entered.

The duo, from Cowley, competed in the British Championships at Bedford and returned with gold medals.

Sadauskas, 27, made short of his opponent Michael Smith in the 71k final, winning in the first round.

It took Eirosius, 25, three rounds to win the 89k final against Mark Richard, from Scotland.

Their successes delighted their trainer Clive Parkinson, who runs the Oxford Kickboxing Club, which has a base at the Oxford Academy Littlemore.

“They both did brilliantly as they’ve only been training with me for six months,” he said.
