Former boss Gary Elkins has returned to Didcot Town as interim manager following Andy Wallbridge’s resignation.

Elkins stepped down in May due to work commitments after one season at the helm.

He will take charge alongside coach Paul Davis as bottom club Didcot visit Wimborne in Division 1 South & West tomorrow, and also for the clash with Evesham United at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow on Tuesday.

The interim arrangement is aimed at giving the club’s committee time to consider all the options before choosing a new manager.

Chairman John Bailey said: “Gary has kindly offered to help out while we assess things. “He knows the club and many of the players, so hopefully disruption will be kept to a minimum.

“We have two big league games in the next few days and we want the players to concentrate on them.

“We’ve had plenty of interest in the job. My phone has not stopped, and we have some hard decision-making to do over the next week or so.”

Bailey added that there had been ten applicants so far, including one from Johannesburg.

He said that Davis was also among those who had thrown his hat in the ring.
