OXFORDSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE - CUP ROUND-UP

HORSPATH Res beat OUP Res by the odd goal in seven in a thrilling Clarendon Cup first round affair.

They took a commanding 2-0 lead early on through Will Horton and Sebastian Warner.

Jay Brown pulled one back for OUP, but the hosts extended their lead after the break through Simon Evans and Daniel Normington before Phil McCabe’s late brace ensured a nervy finish.

Two late goals helped Mansfield Road Res to a 5-3 victory at Middleton Cheney Res, despite falling behind to a Steve O’Brien effort.

Josh Hart scored twice in the second half to keep the hosts in it.

But Mansfield Road were too strong as Shaun Dinn and Alex Lemman helped themselves to two goals apiece, while Stephen Kyriacou also scored.

Charlton United Res won 3-1 at home to Broughton & North Newington Res.

Ryan Hill equalised for the visitors to cancel out Ritchie Knight’s opener for Charlton.

But after Keiren Cross restored Charlton’s lead in the second half it was plain sailing and Chris Staker added a third from the penalty spot after James McAdam was felled in the area.

Freeland Res booked their place in the second round with a 6-2 victory at home to Eynsham Res, taking the lead after ten minutes when Tom Mason nodded in.

Shander Bouslamer equalised for the visitors and then took the lead with a Dane Bailey penalty.

But Freeland wrested control of the match, equalising before the break through Paul Salter and dominating the second half.

Nathan Langford struck twice and Jamie Perkin and Steve Carvey also netted.

Daniel Butler opened his account in Adderbury Park Res’ 2-1 home win over North Oxford Res.

His work was cancelled out after Luke Trotman equalised, but 16-year-old Tom Rivers restored the lead after the break.

STONESFIELD advanced to the second round of the Presidents Cup after a 3-0 win over Division 1 side Eynsham.

Mike Phipps prodded in a corner to open the scoring.

Nick Higgs added a second on the hour mark when his cross-cum-shot found the top of the net and Ed Gilkes fired home a third ten minutes from time.
