BERKS & BUCKS INTERMEDIATE CUP

SAXTON Rovers led the way for North Berks League sides in round two action with a nerve-jangling victory, writes PHIL Annets.

Saxton progressed to round three, edging a seven goal thriller with Reading Premier League outfit Ashridge Park.

Rovers led 3-1 at one stage, but had to fight off a dogged challenge. Mike Dewar, James Hawthorne, James Brown and Paul Churchouse were their marksmen.

League leaders Ardington & Lockinge continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-1 home win over Didcot Town Res from Hellenic League Division 1 East.

Jonny Eudell and Tom Rowe scored the goals.

Faringdon Town also beat Hellenic League opposition, winning 2-1 at home to Division 2 East outfit Ascot United Development courtesy of a Paul Hulme double.

Goals from Matt Saunders and Steve Molloy gave Long Wittenham Athletic a 2-0 home win over Shrivenham Res of Hellenic League Division 2 West.

John Dunbar netted for Wootton & Dry Sandford, but it was in vain as they went down 4-1 at home to Binfield Reserves from Hellenic League Division 2 East.

Crowmarsh Gifford lost 1-0 at home to AFC Aldermaston who ply their trade in the Hampshire Premier League.

Harwell International went down 2-0 at Reading League Premier Division outfit AFC Corinthians and Wallingford Town lost by the same 2-0 scoreline at Bracknell Rovers from the Reading League Senior Division.

NORTH BERKS LEAGUE CUP

DAN Ferguson scored all four goals for Division 5 side Grove Rangers Res, but it was all in vain as they lost their first round tie  5-4 at home to Faringdon Town A from Division 4.

Long Wittenham Athletic Res won their all-Division 4 clash at East Hendred Res 3-2 with Matt Burton, Ollie Sadler and Callum Bowler scoring their goals.
 

Aiden Necchi-Ghiri and James Hicks netted for Hendred.
 

Ricky Hastings and Charlie Jamieson helped themselves to a hat-trick apiece as Division 4 Berinsfield Res strolled to a 9-2 home win over Hagbourne United Res from Division 5.
 

Dan Osbourne, Darren Pettifer and Mennan Calvo were also on the scoresheet for Berinsfield, while Dean McGirr and Shane Felton replied.
