DEFENDING champion Jon Jukes will be the man to beat in the play-off for the men’s summer singles next week.
The Izi’s Bar representative will be at the Chequers Inn, Headington next Tuesday, October 22, looking to claim a place at finals night.
Gary Cozier (Donnington Community Centre) and Derek Lucas (Marlborough Club) will also be in action, along with Goodlake Arms pair Kevin Wilkins and Preben Krabben.
The line-up is completed by Kidlington Green Social Club duo of Joe Palmer and Stuart White.
The pairs competition will also be trimmed down on the same night (8.30).
The eight teams in action are Kidlington Green C and E, Izi’s Bar A and D, Cowley Workers Club B, Corner House C, Peachcroft Social Club A and Marlborough Club B.
The ladies’ singles finalists have already been decided, with Michelle Ewins (Florence Park) into a third successive final, taking on Rose Swanton (Donnington Community Centre).
The ladies summer pairs will play-off at the Chequers on Wednesday, October 23 to decide the final line-up.
In contention are Catherine Wheel D, Nuffield Bar B, Gillans Bar A, Berinsfield Community Centre A, Village Inn B, Donnington Community Centre B and George Bar E.
Finals night will be held at Oxford Social Club, Roman Way, Cowley on Friday, November 15. Entrance £3 on the door.
