Oxford City manager Mike Ford praised his side’s performance as they pulled off an FA Cup shock by beating Skrill South leaders Eastleigh 3-2, writes Matthew Bruce.

But they had to do it the hard way after letting slip a two-goal lead, and Ford said he was proud of his side’ resilience.

“Some teams would have crumbled at that point but we saw them off,” he said.

“We didn’t get lucky, we came here with a plan to attack but they’re a good side and you’ve got to be sensible with what you try to do and I thought we were.

“Normally when a side gets it from 2-0 down to 2-2 they go on to win it.”

And Ford now has his sights set on a place in the first round proper and the opportunity to face a Football League side.

He said: “As a manager I’ve taken this club to the first round proper twice and they’ve both been experiences.”
