A goal three minutes from time condemned Banbury United to a 2-1 defeat in Saturday’s Calor League Premier Division clash at home to Truro City.

Banbury had gone in front just before the hour mark through Kynan Isaac, but two goals in the last 15 minutes gave the Cornish side all three points.

United had given debuts to two players who signed just before the game. Playing in the centre of midfield was ex-Spurs trainee Takura Mtandari while wide midfield was Nathan Mukuna who started at Southend.

There was just one opportunity for Banbury before the interval when Adeyinka Talabi broke clear, but his lob went well wide.

The visitors started the second half the brighter, but Banbury took the lead in the 57th minute when Isaac got on the end of a long ball from keeper Leigh Bedwell and finished with aplomb.

Truro fought back, equalising on 78 minutes when Neil Slateford fired home from 12 yards.

The winner came when Liam Eddy skipped into the penalty area and shot home from a tight angle, before Tanasheh Abrahams almost equalised for Banbury right at the death.

Banbury Utd: Bedwell, Cray, Martin, Morgan, Mbamarah, Ryan, Lawless, Mtandari, Simpson (Talabi 14), Isaac, Mukuna (Abrahams 60). Subs not used: Dumbleton, McNulty, Fraser-Allen.

Attendance: 350.
