Chris Wilder has backed Ryan Williams to deliver after the on-loan Fulham winger got off to an indifferent start in his home debut.
The 19-year-old is on loan at Oxford United until January and came off the bench against Wycombe Wanderers last weekend.
He was unable to make much of an impact as the Sky Bet League Two leaders needed a stoppage-time goal to draw 2-2.
But Wilder is confident the Australia Under 20 international, who did show flashes of promise away to Charlton Athletic earlier this month, will make a telling contribution.
He said: “Ryan has been razor-sharp in training. He’s an exciting player and we wanted to get at Wycombe’s full-backs.
“His first two or three touches weren’t great and he didn’t get off to a flying start, but he did a couple of decent things.
“He’s a young kid and needs backing from everybody.
“He’ll certainly get it from the staff and the players because we feel he’s a good player who will do some decent stuff for us.”
