Oxford United top-scorer Deane Smalley will be fit to return this weekend after he was rested as a precaution on Saturday.
The striker, who has three goals in three league appearances this season, had a tight hamstring and was not risked for the 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers.
U’s boss Chris Wilder made the move reluctantly, but is very confident it will mean the 24-year-old is available to face Rochdale this weekend.
He said: “I’ve got to look at it from a long-term view.
“I would’ve loved him to have played because he’s one of the leading goalscorers in the league.
“I’m sure he would have caused Wycombe major problems, but it was a decision that we made and most definitely he’ll be ready for next weekend.”
