FRILFORD Heath’s team were beaten into third place on home turf in the 24th Richard Pineo Shield.
The Five Star Events competition attracted 26 teams, with the Frilford Fore, captained by Alistair Booth, finishing on 89 points.
They lost out to a team led by Studley Wood’s Martin Southey on count back, while James Axford’s Newburyites won with 93 points.
The competition supported Five Star charity Riding for the Disabled.
Their next event will be the Barry Yates Cup at Studley Wood on September 27 and they will be back at Frilford in November for their Celebrity Day, which includes former Oxford United Milk Cup hero Jeremy Charles.
