Aston Rowant’s hopes of claiming the Division 2 West crown were badly hit as they slipped to a 25-run defeat at Harefield.
It was all looking pretty good at halfway, as Rowant won the toss and opted to bowl first, before shooting the home side out for just 135.
Nick Ferraby was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3-29, with Gordon Harris and Richard Cook also chipping in with a couple of wickets apiece.
But this total proved beyond the Oxfordshire side.
Only Damian Shirazi was able to provide any resistance up the top of the order, as Rowant struggled to 70-7.
Cook and Wesley Morick put on 40 for the eighth wicket to put their side in with a real shout, but the last three wickets all fell with the score on 110.
Scores: Harefield 135 (43.5 ovs, L Baldwin 49, N Ferraby 3-29), Aston Rowant 110 (40.3 ovs, W Morrick 37, D Evans 6-10, C Chibhabha 3-19).
