FA CUP: Extra preliminary round

ARDLEY United gave Thame United a lesson in finishing as they reached the preliminary round with a 4-1 home victory.

While Ardley had the balance of play, goalscoring opportunities were even, but it was the hosts who converted their chances.

Ardley took the lead after 23 minutes when Thame keeper Lee Farrow parried a shot from Ryan Brooks, only for Darren Beckett to react the quickest and score from close range.

Going into the second half, Thame had opportunities to get back in the game, but Ardley extended their lead on 58 minutes through Troy Bryan.

Ryan Brooks despatched a penalty on 64 minutes, with Ben Thomas making it 4-0 on 89 minutes.

Ollie Lynch scored a consolation for Thame, forcing home at the near post following a Taylor Collins corner.

Ardley will now host Hanworth, while Wantage Town earned a home tie with Didcot Town by winning 5-0 at Reading Town.

Tom Melledew scored a brace, including a penalty, while substitute Richard Guy also bagged a double and Danny Lachacz added the other.

Reading had Michael Hancock sent off for an elbow on Guy.

Abingdon United have a replay at home to Bedfont Sports tomorrow night after battling back to draw 2-2.

Lee Tunnell put Bedfont ahead, but Graham Edney levelled with five minutes left.

Cobi Jones put the hosts 2-1 ahead from a corner, but Edney equalised again with 15 seconds to go.

Kidlington visit Hartley Wintney for a replay tomorrow after the sides drew 1-1.

Lewis Coyle scored for Kidlington, with Chris Fox equalising for the visitors.

Abingdon Town lost 5-1 at Highmoor Ibis, for whom Ben Lydon (3), Harrison Bayley and Lee Riddell scored. Rocky Whiting replied.

Chinnor lost 2-0 at Camberley Town, Carterton went down 5-0 at Cove and Shrivenham were beaten 2-1 at Westfield.
