WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
ROGER Goodall had to settle for runner-up position in last weekend’s World Aunt Sally championships at Charlbury.
The event, the third to be staged, was won by Steve McAteer from Paxford, Gloucestershire.
Goodall, who plays for Kidlington Six Bells, went down 2-1 in the final.
A delighted McAteer said: “The Oxfordshire lads gave me a run for my money.”
More than 1,000 people turned out to watch the spectacle, which combined with the local beer festival.
Organisers reported the day was one of their most successful and said they “ran out of everything”.
