Gidam Gidam, a runaway winner at Mollington last month, could bid for a repeat success at the Warwickshire Hunt meeting at the Banbury course on Monday.
The 11-year-old, owned and trained by Heather Kemp at Adstone, near Towcester, romped home by a distance to capture the Lord Ashton of Hyde’s Cup – one of the sport’s four classics – at the Heythrop fixture.
However, he will have to cope with a drop back in trip and faster ground in the mixed open.
Rubavu, who represents the father-and-son trainer-rider combination of Robert and Sam Waley-Cohen, from nearby Edgehill, King’s Legacy, All Great N Theory and Total Rebellion, a pointing recruit from Donald McCain’s yard, are potential rivals. The first of seven scheduled races is at 2pm.
