London Welsh will be hoping to end their Aviva Premiership season on a high note when they host Worcester Warriors at the Kassam Stadium today (2.30).

That was the message from wing Nick Scott as the relegated Exiles seek a fourth league win in front of their home supporters “We have put a real emphasis on working hard for each other and giving the fans something to cheer,” said Scott.

“Looking back we have had a fair few highs this season, especially at the Kassam Stadium.

“One last high to finish a hard season, that’s what we are aiming for.

“We want to give a good account of ourselves and show we are Premiership players.”

Although they will finish well adrift at the bottom, Scott believes they can bounce back next season.

“That’s what the club is aiming for,” he said. “We are professional players and not thinking about going back up won’t come into our minds.

“We’ll be going into pre-season looking to win every game.”

Scott scored the winning try – a superb interception effort – as Welsh beat Bath 16-9 at the Kassam Stadium back in November in what is arguably their best performance of the campaign.

“That was a high for me and great to win the game in that way,” said Scott.

“But it was also a great team performance.

“For once, we got the rewards our efforts deserved.”

But reflecting on the season as a whole, Scott said the relegation buck stopped with Welsh’s players.

“If you don’t get your rewards once or twice, you can put it down to bad luck, but after that you have to look at what your are doing,” the 22-year-old said.

“Sometimes our referee management wasn’t as good as it could have been.

“Other teams may have been a bit more streetwise.

“We have have only got ourselves to blame at the end of the season.”
