Oxford carper Paul Dallimore caught this magnificent 50lb 1oz specimen from 30-acre lake near Limoges in France.
The fish was nabbed at 160-yard range, tight to the far margin in less than four foot of water under an overhanging bush.
Dallimore said: “I had seen carp feeding in the day time. I baited up with boillies sweetcorn pellet and maggots.
“The rig was a 1.5oz lead size-four korda wide gape and a seven-inch coated hooklink fished on a lead clip with corn and maggots as the hookbait on a medusa rig.
“In all, I used five gallons of maggots, eight kilos of blakes baits, ‘crab n cran’ boillies, five kilos of sweetcorn and five kilos of pellets.”
Dallimore also landed two other 40s, three 30s and five 20s.
