Worcestershire captain Daryl Mitchell hit a fluent century as Oxford MCCU found wickets hard to come by on day one in The Parks.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Mitchell made 118 off 180 balls, with 17 fours, to set Worcestershire on the way to 348-4 dec.

Oxford were 14-0 at stumps.

Mitchell shared in a first-wicket stand of 210 with Matthew Pardoe, before the skipper was caught behind by Stewart Davison off Owain Jones.

Sam Agrawal removed Alexei Kervezee three runs later, before Pardoe perished for 89 to captain Charlie Morris.

Neil Pinner fell to Benedict Kemp for 54, and Joseph Leach was 55 not out at the declaration.
