Tyrone Marsh and Max Crocombe have signed new contracts to stay at Oxford United and decisions on the future of 17 senior players will be made today.
The 19-year-olds have both made their first-team debuts this season, and the U’s have taken out an option in the pair’s contracts to keep them for another season.
It means the U’s will have five teenagers in next season’s squad who have come through the club’s youth system, after Sam Long, Callum O’Dowda and Dave Lynn signed professional terms last month.
United boss Chris Wilder, who intends to discuss longer term deals with the pair this summer, has been delighted with their progress.
He said: “Max and Tyrone have both done well this season and deserve their chance.
“They have worked at their game, listened to the right people and shown a lot of maturity.
“We are pleased that they will be part of the first team squad next season.”
The rest of the out of contract players, who form the bulk of this season’s first-team squad, will be told individually this morning whether they will be offered a new contract or released.
Manager Chris Wilder said: “I’m sure the majority of them would want to stay because of how the club is run.
“The ones that we release, I will thank them and wish them all the best and we’ll do it the right way.
“We’ll sit down with some players and we’ll be offering them contracts.”
