TEAM Oxfordshire finished second in their opening Youth Development League Midland Premier 2 clash at Horspath.

The composite side, featuring under 17 and under 20 athletes from Abingdon Amblers, Radley, White Horse Harriers and Oxford City, were runners-up behind Notts City.

Kathryn Woodcock (Radley) led the way with a hat-trick of victories in the under 17 girls’ discus (37.74m), shot putt (8.77) and hammer (34.08).

City’s Tomasz Napiorkowski notched a personal best of 13.48 to win the under 20 men’s shot and took the discus in 42.95.

Radley’s Hayley Perrin also bagged a victory double – in the under 20 ladies’ long jump (5.21) and high jump (1.55).

Emma O’Hara (Radey) threw a personal best of 40.27 to win the under 20 ladies’ discus, while City’s Mark Warland won the under 20 men’s hammer with a throw of 27.40.

Radley’s Tom Anstice triumphed in the under 17 men’s javelin with a 46.89m effort.

Lauren Hawtin (Oxford City) battled cold and wet conditions to win the under 20 ladies’ 1,500m steeplechase with 5.34.30.

White Horse’s Becky Hodgson (1.00.4) won the under 20 ladies’ 400m.

There were under 17 successes for Radley’s Lois Waknell (100m – 13.2) and Oxford duo Megan Humphreys (1,500m – 4.56.4) and Beth Mulvany (high jump – 1.35).

Jordan Dorrian (Radley) won the under 20 men’s 100m in 11.5 seconds, while Edward Burgess (Radley) clinched the 110m hurdles in 16.6.

Meanwhile, the combined Banbury Harriers/Bicester team finished first on their debut in Midland West 2A at Drayton School, Banbury.

Shannon Parker, a member of Bicester and Banbury, won the under 20 ladies’ long jump in 4.93 and the triple jump in 10.23.

Megan Davies (Banbury) triumphed in the under 20 ladies’ discus (26.21) and hammer (33.22).
