OXFORDSHIRE Under 18s’ battling display proved in vain as they lost 3-1 to Wiltshire at Devizes in the South & West Counties Youth Championship play-off final.
The visitors fell behind on 43 minutes when Josh Fowler (Shrivenham) fired home.
Declan Shepperd (North Leigh) had a shot on the turn saved by the Wilts keeper on 57 minutes. Wiltshire led 2-0 when Will Thompson (Melksham) took advantage of a poor clearance.
Ollie Smith (Wantage) pulled one back with a penalty after he was fouled in the box.
With time running out, Oxon keeper Luke Sanders (Kidlington) went up for a corner, but the ball was cleared and Fowler ended up with a simple finish for 3-1.
