North Leigh ended their Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West season on a positive note with a 3-1 victory over Bridgwater Town on Saturday.

It gave Mark Gee’s side back-to-back wins and a ninth-place finish.

The Millers dominated and should have won by a bigger margin.

Jon Else almost gave the hosts a first-minute lead, before Conor McDonagh twice went close – his second effort skimming the bar.

Else, however, did find the net on 22 minutes when a corner was not cleared and he drove home.

Three minutes later, a quick break saw Jacob Walcott play in Zak Westlake, who doubled North Leigh’s lead via a post.

A dominant home side continued to attack and on 34 minutes, Walcott broke clear to make it 3-0.

Tom Franklin and Else went close to adding further goals as Bridgwater, playing their fifth game in eight days struggled to cope.

Numerous other chances were squandered after the break, with McDonagh, Franklin, Kieran Sanders and Michael Alexis all guilty of misses.

Surprisingly, Bridgwater got a goal back on 64 minutes through Harry Nodwell.

But there was never any danger of a comeback and North Leigh comfortably saw the game out.
