OXFORDSHIRE Academy produced a battling performance to beat a Great & Little Tew XI by 63 runs in a low-scoring match.

It was very much a day for the bowlers as visitors Oxfordshire fell for only 130, before dismissing their hosts for 67.

Only Jasper Davies (57) and Richard Cook (28) really got going as Oxfordshire batted first on winning the toss.

And it could have been worse as Oxon slumped to 54-7, only for a 63-run stand between Davies and Will Rooney to rebuild their innings.

Tew captain Andy Harris (3-11) was the pick of the bowlers, with Josh Megson (3-20) and Liam Manley (3-26) also shining.

Tew’s reply never really got off the ground in the face of some excellent seam bowling and ground fielding.

Curtly Slatter (21) was the only Tew batsman to make double figures.

Oxfordshire captain Cook took 3-5 from eight overs, Jason Cardy 2-17 and Karl Penhale 2-21.
