GLADIATORS A are champions of Section 2 in the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford League with two games to spare after beating Marlborough Club 3-2 at home, writes PETE EWINS.
Bert Lovegrove (11,650) and Frank Cox (3,880) won the opening two legs for Gladiators, before Callum Bowler (4,530) reduced the arrears.
Skipper Bob Pincombe (7,260) sealed victory, with Chris Bateman winning Marlborough’s second point.
Headington Conservative Club reached the Group B Team Knockout Cup final after beating Gladiators B 4-1.
They will now play Marlborough Club in the final.
- HOLDERS Oxford A won 4-1 at home to Wallingford A in the first leg of the Inter Area Cup second round.
Oxford C went down 3-2 at home to Witney C in the C team competition.
