Oakley United upset the odds as they beat Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division leaders Oxford University Press 3-2 in the President’s Cup semi-final.

A surprise was on the cards when Nick Gurney headed in Alex Woodfine’s cross to put Oakley in front, only for Marlon James to level.

Oakley, challenging for the Division 1 title, regained the lead after the break when Aaron Rogers converted a Woodfine cross, before Ben Moses lashed home No 3 from 20 yards out.

Although Neil Lockhart clawed one back, Oakley held on to book their place in the final against Stonesfield at Abingdon Town on May 5.

Liam O’Callaghan scored twice as Riverside turned up the heat on OUP with a 6-0 hammering at Horspath.

Liam Palfermann, Otis Woodward, Arron Armstrong and Paul Brough also scored.

The result saw the second-placed side close the gap at the top to four points and they have three games in hand.

Soufian Kessabi scored all Mansfield Road’s goals in a 3-1 home win against Oxford Irish. Eddie Denton had equalised.

Ben Foster bagged a brace as Bletchingdon thrashed near-neighbours Launton Sports 4-1.

Adam Wells (penalty) and Mark Gaul completed their tally, with Innocent Dviti replying.

Paul May, Sam Wharton and Ali Smith were on target for Marston Saints in a 3-1 home win against Garsington, for whom Eron De Santos netted.

Alex Bekele and Tom Williams were on target as Bletchingdon Res eased to a 2-0 home victory against Middleton Cheney Res in Division 2.
