GOSFORD All Blacks’ full back Tim Ellis notched a personal tally of 20 points in his side’s 45-20 victory over Bicester in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier Division.
Ellis bagged a try, six conversions and a penalty as Bicester paid the price for some poor tackling.
Winger Freddie Everitt put Bicester ahead with a try, but Gosford stormed back with tries from wing Tom Kinsey, fly half Harry Sutton and centre Andy Schwarz.
Hooker Jake Holdsworth reduced the deficit with a try, but Ellis’s penalty and another try from centre Chris Bennett made the half-time score 31-10. Bicester came back with a vengeance early in the second half and were rewarded as winger Chris Curtis dived over in the corner, before Sutton scored the try of the game, beating four defenders to score under the posts.
The visitors earned a bonus point with a try from scrum half Mike Harris, but it was fitting that skipper Ellis should have the last word with a try, which he converted from the touchline.
Abingdon triumphed 54-10 away to Championship basement boys Faringdon.
Winger James Webb went over for the first try and others followed at regular intervals through full back Connor Douglas, flanker Dale Cross, winger Benny Samuel (2), centre Niall Taylor, plus replacement No 8 Josh Harwood and replacement centre Richard Shayler.
Fly half Mark Roberts landed seven conversions.
