LYN Jones felt London Welsh had let their levels drop in their heavy defeat at London Irish.
The head coach said: “We were disappointed with that score in the end. We let ourselves down a bit.
“Things which have been good for us this year, our attitude in defence and our line speed, they disappeared today.
“We were quite passive and allowed Irish to bring their top-class players into the game on the wing.”
Welsh fell off the pace after competing well for the first hour.
“We were in the game all the time,” said Jones. “But then we kept on gifting London Irish field position from restarts and soft turnovers, which they scored from.
“We dealt with the might of Northampton last week, who were a very dynamic side ten metres out with the maul and scrum, we dealt with that quite comfortably.
“Today we didn’t deal with Irish.”
Jones added: “Some of our attacking structures were good and we created lots of opportunities to score tries, but we didn’t take them.”
Irish’s director of rugby, former Oxford University Blue Brian Smith, said: “We were running from our own try line and so were they.
“The crowd enjoyed it, which was important.”
