NORTH Leigh fell to their third successive defeat on a bumpy pitch at Mangotsfield United in their Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West mid-table clash, losing 2-0.

Neither side were able to create any real chances in the opening spell.

But it was the hosts who took the lead in the 28th minute.

Tom Parrinello pumped a free-kick from his own half into the North Leigh box, and Shaun Lamb headed it past Sam Warrell in the Millers goal.

North Leigh fell further behind ten minutes later when they lost possession outside their penalty area, and a swift interchange of passes saw Marcus Duharty shoot past Warrell from six yards.

The Millers tried to hit back, and Conor McDonagh put John Mills in on goal, but as he was about to shoot he was eased off the ball by Ryan Bennett.

Just before the break, referee Thomas Blanch appeared to have awarded North Leigh a penalty for handball.

But after consultating one of his assistants the decision was reversed, and a free-kick awarded to the home side.

Playing down the slope in the second half, the Millers had a greater share of the play, but couldn’t find a way through a resolute home defence.

Indeed the best effort of the half fell to home substitute Liam Monelle, who crashed a left-foot shot against the North Leigh bar from outside the box.
