Bicester A’s hopes of completing a hat-trick of wins in the Oxford & District Association’s Aubrey Hughes Handicap Shield were dashed by Forum G in the semi-finals.
Forum took advantage of a 255-point start to run out 441-417 winners.
Bob Hallett punched well above his weight to take the match away from Bicester. He scored well in defeats by Tony Gorman and Jon Bayliss, before beating Chris Hawkes 21-19, 21-20 to drive Forum’s victory home.
Hallett was well supported by Andrew Legge and Eddie Carter as Bicester sealed a place in the final against Vikings A, who won 420-387 against Witney A at Ramsden.
Witney also had the advantage of a 255-point start.
But Pawel Jaskolski, Rob Williams and Alan Cherry got the better of Glen Bishop, Andy Cuddon and Steve Lilley-Hopkins.
Jaskolski was Vikings’ match-winner with emphatic victories over Cuddon and Lilley-Hopkins.
RESULTS
Aubrey Hughes Handicap Shield semi-finals: Witney A (+255) 387, Vikings A 420; Bicester A 417, Forum G (+255) 441.
