Captain Andrew Tolson led the way with a superb century as Oxfordshire Under 17s kicked off their 2013 season with a 14-run win over St Edward’s School in a friendly.
Tolson’s 106 was the stand-out innings as Oxon made 206-7 from their 50 overs.
His fine knock came off 131 balls and containing 15 boundaries.
St Edward’s were restricted to 192-9 off their 50 overs.
Pick of the bowlers was Waqas Ali Latif, who returned 4-20 from eight overs, including three wickets in his seventh over.
Henry Charter chipped in with 2-36, while St Edward’s skipper Ruari Willis top-scored for his side with 36.
Reigning Oxforshire Under 15 champions, Abingdon Vale, start the defence of their crown with a home fixture against Kingston Bagpuize on Monday.
The following week sees the girls make a start with the first round of their under 15 competition.
