CHRIS Wilder was pleased to see a ruthlessness from Oxford United at both ends as a poor run came to an end with a 1-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, writes DAVID PRITCHARD.
Alfie Potter grabbed what proved to be the winning goal on 40 minutes.
Dagenham had their moments, but could not breach Max Crocombe’s goal as the visitors stayed firm.
Wilder (right) was very satisfied to halt a five-game winless run.
The United boss said: “We had a good foothold in the game and as we’ve always said the game is decided in both boxes. “We were big and strong when we had to be in our box and when we had a clear-cut chance, Alfie put it away.”
He added: “When you don’t win games it’s not a happy place. Nobody enjoys Saturday nights when that happens, so it’s good to win.”
Wilder also reserved praise for the 369 U’s fans who made the trip and were noisy throughout.
He said: “The support was superb and gave the team the best opportunity to win the game. “It’s been five games that we’d not won and I’m happy they go home after watching a winning team.”
