Wantage Town’s Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division title hopes look to have ended after the second-placed side lost 3-0 to leaders Marlow at Alfredian Park on Saturday.

A Ben Gladwin brace and a Stuart Cattell own-goal sealed victory for Marlow, who need to beat Abingdon Town next Saturday to clinch the title.

However, Wantage’s defeat was tempered by the news that their ground is suitable for the Southern League if they are promoted.

Oxford City Nomads moved into fourth place following a 3-1 win at Highmoor Ibis, thanks to goals from Jamie Mundy, John Rixon and Daryl Harris. Jahson Downes replied for Highmoor. Ardley United slumped to their fourth defeat in a row following a 4-0 home thumping by Binfield.

Carl Withers (2), Danny Wing and Joel Havermans were on target for the visitors.

Jimmy Deabill netted a double as resurgent Kidlington kept up their good form in the Premier Division with a 5-1 thrashing of Cheltenham Saracens. Tom Castle, Ryan Curtin and Jack Johnson completed their tally, with Joe Donaghue scoring for Saracens. Bottom side Shrivenham went down to a 4-1 home defeat against Newbury for whom Bradley Shaw (2), Dan West and Iggy Ilott scored. David Griffin netted for Shrivenham.

Alfie Saunders smashed a four-timer as North Leigh Res hammered injury-ravaged Letcombe 6-1 in Division 1 West.

Ryan Lewis and Nathan Blackwell completed the rout, Alex Bruce hitting back for Letcombe from the penalty spot.

Hook Norton edged to a 2-1 success at Malmesbury Victoria, thanks to goals from Dan Watkin and Mark Dennis.

Aaron Gilbert replied for the home side. Old Woodstock Town went down to a disappointing 2-0 at home to Tytherington Rocks, Justin Bishop and Toby Colbourne on target for the visitors. Goals from Chris Appleby and Liam Ratcliffe were in vain as Division 1 East basement boys Henley Town lost 3-2 against Woodley Town for whom Rorie Palmer (2) and Jordan Sawyer netted.

AFC Hinksey lost 4-0 at home to Finchampstead, Josh Sapsed, Harry Swabey, Stuart Manicom and James Hinchin doing the damage. Milton United were thrashed 5-1 by Bracknell Town.

Tom Barrett (2), Shane Cooper-Clarke, Anthony Kallides and Lewis Brown did the damage with Joe Parker on target for Milton.
